The Morgan Adams Concours d’Elegance 2004Oct '04
The Morgan Adams Foundation and the Children's Hospital Foundation co-hosted A Concours d'Elegance on August 21 at TAC Air at Centennial Airport to benefit pediatric cancer research and the Morgan C. Adams Memorial Neuro-Oncology Research Fund.

The Morgan Adams Concours d' Elegance seeks to honor the love and lives of all children who are suffering from or have suffered from cancer, to educate and expand the general understanding of childhood cancers, and to raise money to further a common goal: a cure.

Steven Adams and Joan Slaughter, Morgan's parents, especially thanked the exhibitors, sponsors, donors, committee members, honorary chair, guest speakers and auctioneer, as well as the many volunteers and the providers of everything that was needed including food, drinks, flowers, lighting and music.

Included in this event was a road tour, a display of automobiles and aircraft, a live and silent auction, and an awards ceremony. The aircraft on display included the A500 and A700 by Adam Aircraft Industries, Aerovodochody L-39 fighter-trainer, two AT-6s, a Bell 407 turbine helicopter and Bell Jet Ranger, a Boeing Stearman A75 and Stearman M75, a British Fairey Firefly and Supermarine Spitfire MKIX, a British SE5a Scout and de Havilland DHC-2 Beaver, an Extra 300L, Fokker Dr.1 Triplane, Hawker Sea Fury, MiG-17 jet fighter, N3N-3 "Yellow Peril" biplane, two P-51D Mustangs, a Pitts Special S-2c aerobatic bi-plane, an SNJ-5B and a Stinson V-77 Gullwing.

Automobiles on display included a pair of AC Cobra Mark IVs; an Aston Martin Vanquish; an Auburn Boattail Speedster and Auburn Cabriolet Salon roadster convertible; two Bentley GTs; several Cadillac roadsters, sedans and coupes; a Dodge Viper SRT-10 roadster; a Ferrari 308 Quattrovalve and Ferrari Testarossa; a Ford Highboy; an Iso Grifo; a Jaguar XK 120 roadster and Jaguar D Type race car; a Lamborghini Countach Quattrovalve and two Lamborghini Gallardos; two Mercedes 300 SL gullwings and a Mercedes 300 SL roadster; a Packard 904 dual cowl Phaeton custom Dietrich and Packard 902 dual cowl Sport Phaeton; a Porche 356 La Carrera; a Rolls Royce Limo; and a Studebaker Avanti R-2 coupe.

Selected as the Concours d'Elegance Best in Show and Peoples Choice Award for aircraft was the 1945 P-51D Mustang owned and flown by Joseph H. Thibodeau, a Denver tax and aviation attorney. Selected as the Peoples Choice Award for automobile was a 1932 Auburn Boattail Speedster owned and driven by Tim Gilmartin. Brett Derosier was recognized for his outstanding work as Concours co-chairman.
